Right Brained or Left Brained.
By Jorge • Oct 13th, 2007 • Category: Creativity, Fun & Games| Can you see which way the dancer is spinning? If you think she’s going clockwise, you’re apparently right-brain dominant (imaginative, philosophical, touchy-feely, impetuous); if you see her going counter-clockwise, you’re left-brain dominant (logical, practical, detail-oriented, safe). If you’re are able to alternate views to see her going in both directions, then you’re just a plain old genius. Just focus on the picture and you’ll see that you can make her change directions at will. |

This is clearly fake, they just switch around the spin whenever the legs aren’t showing.
As Thomas said its fake. I watched it for a while and it changes direction at one point.
That never caught my attention the fact that it changes direction when the legs aren’t showing. Yet I don’t see it.
it’s a 204 kb .gif, if it was animated at that size, (300×400) long enough to actually change directions, it would be a much bigger file size. It is only animated up to one rotation, and the animation just loops from there. If you see it switching, the you’re actually experiencing the effect described. I myself, as much as I try, can not force it to rotate counter clockwise.
*ADDITION*
After looking this over for a few minutes I’ve finally (along with my roommates) gotten it to the point that I can switch it on command, If I focus hard enough, I can even get it too look like shes just bouncing in a 180 degree arc instead of rotating. What a trippy illusion! Kudos to whoever originally created this, and kudos retracted from Thomas and Matt for being so quick to dispel this as a fake. Not everyone on the internet is out to deceive you guys
Thanks for the comments guys, I had always been able, if I focused, to make it change directions.
I found it helpful that if you concentrate at the bottom right screen while trying to make it switch it is easier, until you get the hang of it that is, good luck trying, doubt its a fake, because you can really screw with it when you figure it out o.o
This isn’t a fake. I found that by staring at the foot closest to the center and imagining it not turning around 360 degrees like Alex said, but simply turning 180 degreees, and then bouncing the other way. Very interesting.
This is definitely a fake… pay attention to which leg is extended while she is spinning, whether it be the left or the right. Then, when she switches, it will be the other that is extended.
No, I can’t do it. Damnit. It only spins counter-clockwise for me no matter what I do.
If its fake then why can I switch the rotation at will in my brain. If you can’t do it, that doesn’t make it fake.
This post is inspiring, fresh and ultra awesome! You have a very progressive looks. Reading this blog is a great pleasure.
